i handled my first double rifle friday....i picked up my #1 458 win mag from a gun dealer in san antonio texas friday...and was standing around enjoying my new purchase and noticed a poster advertising merkel double rifles...these are the merkel 140 "safari" double rifles.....i was offered the opportunity to look, hold, foldle, drool.... the dealer is texas guns on bandera road, san antonio, texas....jim eckburg brought out the 3rd rifle in a 3 rifle set... in .470 nirto express, no less....beautiful wood, craftmanship...all ive read on this bb was now in my hands.... balanced just ahead on the pivot, held it to my shoulder, and leaned into it...the other 2 are chambered for .375 h&h and .416 rigby...i was told that only 5 sets of this 3 rifle combo were produced and each rifle has the same s/n...i'm definitely hooked on having 1 of these fine rifles... ive got 8 model 70 win bolt guns, from .225 win to .375 h&h mag.. but this fine double exceeds them all....
