As a proud and satisfied owner of a 450/400 3 inch I must echo all the above reasons.

If there is such a tihing a perfect "All Around" chambering for a double rifle the 450/400 3 inch is that round. Small enough to hunt Worthogs and Pigs and big enough to handle whatever pops up out of the bush, elephant included.

A long, deep penetrating 400 grain .408 or .411 caliber bullet at either 1950 or 2100 FPS. Most rifles are at 10 lbs., easily carried and the recoill won't beat you to death.

I try to hunt with mine as much as possible.

Why not the 500/416? Another great chambering, but the recoil is a bit much for me.
