Luv, I totally agree with you regarding the 9.3 being a small caliber for DG. However, I have shot 5 buffalo with a 30-06 (not because I chose, but because it was the only gun in these ranches) and they all died pretty fast. Including one bull I stopped when charging my friend who wonded it with a .375H&H. The first shot around 20yds did very little, but I was lucky to break his shoulder with my second shot at 10yds. After many tries I have shot only one buff (amazon water buff around 900kgs) with a 70# recurve with 900 grain arrows (got a complete pass through). That is really dangerous! Bowhunting buff I was charged up a tree by a cow and I wished I had a .400 or even a .470. Karamojo Bell writtes that in all his life in the bush, despite the hundreds of buff he shot with .256 and 7mms, he never in his life saw a buffalo charge! But I will try to follow the advice to look for a larger rifle, specially because I indend on hunting ele. But why a DR .400 has to be worth 2, 3 or even 5 times more cash if they are of similar quality of a 9.3??? Dante |
