Tom, I used to own a Heym express rifle in .600 NE. Recoil was on par with a 30 m.p.h. auto accident. The fastest that I could shoot it was 1 round every 10 minutes because it took me that long to recover from the nausea induced by pulling the trigger. My practical maximum was 3 shots per day. The Heym was an excellent rifle, nicely presented, quality workmanship, great sights and very accurate. I never shot it off the bench but I could put 3 shots into a 3 inch circle offhand at 50 yards, over a 30 minute time frame. With a better recoil pad and a couple of mercury tubes in the butt, the Heym would have been manageable. |
