Hyena engraving on a double! Superb! Having spent most of my adult life studying and loving hyenas, this is too good to be true. Now I might just have to get a spotted hyena put on my Searcy. These are striped hyenas, common in India (and Africa). Must say, however, that charred bones are no good to no one – hyenas prefer them fresh, can eat them old and dry when pushed. Nice fresh meat is best of all. Tinker, I would love to introduce you to our hyenas in Berkeley. That other beast does indeed look like a black wildebeest, found in southern Africa but not India. As to places to shoot nearby, the IPSC range at Richmond is good, and you can do most anything if accompanied by an RO on a slow week day. |
