As 400 Nitro stated my Chapuis weighs 7.25 lbs without scope. I have carried mine with its 1.5-6x42 Swarovoski scope in Montana, Idaho, Texas, Canada, and on 2 trips to Zim.
I do not find the recoil bad at all. The rifle is a joy to carry.
It kills game way beyond what its ballistics would suggest.
