I really enjoy this forum and truely enjoy all the vast knowledge and experience of the forum members. The question occurred to me-- If you were hunting in Africa for months at a time in Buff/Ele territory and had to carry a Heavy Caliber Double daily as a stopper what caliber class would be your preference?? 450 class/500NE/577NE/600NE? Why? I think someone previously noted the magazine African Hunter said that survival attempts to stop surprise DG attacks in Zim with 470NE was far better than a 375H&H. Is this BS? Some old hunters thought the 375H&H was perfectly adequate. What daily carry weight is best tolerated with what caliber as a stopper by previous african hunters? What is an upper practical caliber limit(ignoring superhuman recoil tolerance/endurance)? 500NE/11pounds? 577NE/14pounds?What as a lower limit? 450/400/10 pounds? What is the forums personal experience? |
