Griz, IMO the Barnes banded solids present too much surface area against the rifling, so much that in fact the barrel must flex. A true driving band solid will have relatively thin bands so that the bullet material may easily be displaced by the rifling into the groove right behind any particular band. Barnes banded solids do not provide that function. The function I am talking about can best be seen by looking at the GS Custom and North fork bullets above. |
