Re: Accurate Double rifle - .303 Rigby

Tinker,
I hope all is well with you; I enjoyed our conversation the other evening.

I have been impressed withh the Enfield battle rifles; I owned several of the various makes and models when they were imported into the US for dirt cheap prices. Ammo was cheap then as well.

I had No 1 and No 4 models to include Lithgow's, British makes, and even an Ishapore 308 from the 60,s. Most were good for 2 to 3 inches at 100 yds with the issue sights and surplus ammo. I find this acceptable for what they are and for what they were intended.

They were reliable and fast for a bolt gun. The trigger mechanism is extremely simple; I appreciate this on a military rifle.

As for accuracy, our own 14 had a reputation for very good accuracy. When I searched for what the MILITARY standard was, IIRC it was 6" at 100yds;not good enough but most will do much better.

Have to go, Have a good day,

Doug
