Rear sight has tiny "U", inadequate, should be replaced or recut, rib is dovetailed for scope mounts, one Rem. representative said rings will come with it. $699 retail, $499 wholesale. Specs are 23.5" barrels, lop 14.25", comb drop 1.5", heel drop 2.25", wt. 7.5 lbs. Slot in underrib gives access to toothed wheel which spreads or squeezes barrels, about a foot back from muzzles. When will it be available, I asked, the reply was "soon". The '06 will come next. If the '06 has the usual European tiny spring tooth extractors, no good, but this .45-70 looks fine and frankly I was very impressed with it.
