I think reboring to a 45-90 or 45-110 would be better. You can still shoot ultra cheap 45-70 ammo for fun plinking. You also can load a pretty hot 4000FPE round. With the right bullet it will take any game on the plant. Its not a stopper, but you really don't need one when hunting with a PH any how. If they ever release it, I'll get/use it as my double practice and North American Game hunting gun. I have no reason or desire to take my A. Hollis 500/450 NE into the woods, only Safari. Recoil on it is just too brutal/expensive to shoot more than 10 rounds. Think about it, you can by bulk 45-70 from many outfits for less than $.70 per round, and the recoil with this ammo is mild.
