The two main types of cheekpieces found on double rifles are the beaded pancake and none. I don't know when this American Classic abortion began to creep into the continental DRs, but I've even seen a few new British guns with 'em. That's like replacing the hood ornament on a new Mercedes with steer horns. It's leprosy for double rifles.
