Grizzly, The Searcy was a big club! Man what a hunk of steel and wood. And it felt like a hunk of steel and wood. As I said in my PM it's too much rifle for me. I'd rather have one of Butch's 26" barrel 450/400 3 inch rifle. A buddy from Corpus Christi took his Searcy 450/400 to Africa TWICE this year and was throughly impress with it's penetration on elephant. The Hollis was nice. It was an earlier model than mine, although still a Leonard action. 400NitroExpress actually found one of the rifle's original owners by a chance conversation and got all the scoop on the rifle. It's up at Champlins having JJ look at it. The rifle isn't perfect, but very workable! I would like to point out that the buyer of the Hollis is doing what we all should do everytime we consider buying a used rifle. . . . Get it checked out by a professional! This always saves on the gnashing of teeth and pulling of hair later on! Just my opine |
