Damn, you should write DR romance novels. Anyway, I was faced with the same question as you a few months ago. I decided on the 500. Its much more versatile then the 577 but still has the extra thumping power over a 470. Part of the beauty of a DR is the quick aimed second shot. The weight and recoil of the 577 diminishes that capability. What are your plans for the rifle? Do you want to go to Africa for Dangerous Game, North American Game or just something to enjoy at the range? What rifles are you looking at?
