Wombat, Thank you for the report. I have never experienced these types of problems with the 570 gr Woodleigh softs. I don't shot a 500 NE though I use a 500 Jeffery Improved (aka 500 AHR). I have never recovered a 570 soft point shot into the chest cavity of a buffalo, as they have all passed completely through leaving a very nice 76mm to 125 mm entrance and exit holes in the rib cage. I have recovered many from head on head shots, the bullets take a beating then and only retain about 50% to 65% of their original weight. My load has a muzzle velocity of 2440 fps. Anyway, like I said thank you for the report. I believe I will shift to the 600gr PPSP for my future loading (once I exhaust the 60 or so rounds of 570gr SP I currently have). I would only use solids if the law mandated it, personal idiosyncracy only. Scott |
