I'm the proud owner of a Searcy 500NE PH

I managed to talk Butch into a semi-beavertail fore end. I really wanted a full beavertail but Butch explained that on a big bore double you have to hold onto the barrels by wrapping your fingers around the barrels (not just the fore end) to prevent the fore end from ripping off under recoil.

If you don't the "loop" (fore end attachment point) isn't strong enough to prevent the recoil from pulling the fore end loose from the barrels.

If your not hanging onto the barrels you just might have the rear sight blade planted in your forehead and nothing else but the fore end in your hand after it goes bang.
