I mentioned this before, but since no one responded I am trying once more in hopes that someone might have a good idea of the actual purpose of the two drilled and tapped holes in the rib. The double in question is a P. Webley&Son. I have seen an Evans with an aperture sight mounted in this area, so I suppose that could be a possibility. Another possibility might be for a scope base, but I question whether the two holes would be substantial enough to support that much weight under recoil . Ideas? Thanks, Jim |
