There would be no contest IMO! The B Searcy PH model chambered for 470NE is regulated with the Federal ammo at the factory. You can find more expensive "NEW" double rifles, than the Searcy, but you will not find one that is more accurate, no matter the price. Addtionally, the price of $9.5K (for the PH mod)is for a rifle made to fit you. You will not find a made to order double rifle in that price range anyplace else. The fact that you are a novice, makes a traditional cocking system far more valuable, than it would be to an experienced double rifle shooter. Mr. Murphy is a sneaky little devil, and the more "IDIOT PROOF" you can make the rifle the better, especially in a Dangerous game rifle. DGR is the only reason to buy a 470NE double rifle, IMO. If you are going to use the rifle only in the USA, then the 9.3X74R makes far more sense! The Merkel is a valuable rifle for a low price, and is as relaiable as solid rock. I have two Merkels, and 470NE, and a 9.3X74R and the 470NE will print four shots in a 2.5" group at 50 yds, from the bench. The 9.3 will print four in a 2" group at 100 yds, also off the bench. Off hand, or over the sticks takes practice, especially with a cartridge that generates as much recoil as the 470NE. Between the two you are considering, the B.Searcy is head, and shoulders above the Blaser, IMO, FWIW! Good luck in your search! We always need more members in the DRSS!
