I have been watching this thread for the past few days, as I figured it might provide for a good horror story that I could learn from and remember when the day comes that I purchase a double.

I refuse to comment on what I have gathered from the original postings at AR, aside from these facts:

1.) I am glad I am a member of this forum and not AR, as this forum does not seem to have as much slandering back and forth, and every member I've conversed with and read has been of impeccable integrity in terms of their posting.

2.) I finally learned what became of the Bastow Mauser action after half heartedly following it along through websearches for a while. My deepest appologies to 500grains for the ordeal he went through in what struck me as a good concept. Had I only known then what I know now are famous last words, and I am thankful that I never progressed pass the interested windowshopper stage.

3.) If buying from an individual, I will insist on the rifle first being shipped to a competent gunsmith who specializes (not listing any names who I would suggest) in doubles for an exaustive inspection before purchase.

All I can say with certainty is thank you NE.com members for being above and beyond the muck and mire that fills the rest of the internet.
