Judson, what do you mean with german method? I donīt know that method and acting in the way you describe would only be used for big and unusual blackpowder calibers to not fill the barre up with 300 grains of BP. Germany follows the CIP as any of the other countries mentioned in this thread. There is no other method to proof a gun. As already stated by someone else, the proofhouse will fire some cartridges that produce between 30 to 45% more chamber pressure as the allowable max average defined in CIP (SAAMI) for that cartridge. Measuring before and after proof firing will also be done. br Tom |
