Re: new, introducing myself

In reply to:

One of my biggest regrets is in not getting a 9.3 DR when the prices were reallllly cheap.

I totally agree with that! I've always had a 9.3X74R double around, and have two as we speak. I have always said the best double rifle for a guy to start out with is a 9.3X74R. They are fine for anything in North America, and are legal in many places in Africa, for the big five. They are cheaper to shoot, comparitively speaking, so the new owner can shoot them a lot. The recoil is managable, so do not cause the new owner to be scared of his rifle, and develope flinches. IMO, for any first time buyer of a double rifle, he will be intering a learning curve, and he will learn faster is he doesn't have to spend $225 per box of 20 rds for ammo to shoot, like if he buys a 470NE to start with. The 9.3 doubles were sleepers till lately, but now are almost unavailable,in the USA, and prices have gone up by about $3500 since I bought my last one, and they are not available at all. It seems the importers didn't expect the run on stocks of the little 9.3 doubles, and didn't order enough units.
