I bought mine used but for the new prices I would look at a used hammerless Merkel or Chapuis as they are sometimes around for not too much more. Eurogun Imports has had a Chapuis for quite a while in the $5k range ($5875 on GunsAmerica now, but I believe it was lower in the past), although I do not know that it has their scope mounting support and when I inquired I was told it was regulated for the lighter load. I am very happy with mine but with the Euro so high the new ones are getting pretty expensive. When I was looking I got a quote from Cherry's -- it required a pre-order with all cash up front. (Edited: Sorry if this seems negative or a thread hijack. I was just sharing my internal thought process on the attractiveness of formerly inexpensive European guns with the Euro rise versus a gun you may get that was bought when the Dollar was stronger. As stated, I am very happy with my Pedersoli, but I doubt I would have gotten it at the current new prices.) |
