In reply to: I'm not likely to ever own a Kreighoff, but one of my close friends does. He regularly participates in group hunts and culling operations where a number of shooters walk a creekline or riverbank, keeping pace, and shoot any game which present an opportunity. In that case, the decocker is a blessing, as the firearm can be carried chambered but uncocked until ready to shoot. I hunt with doubles almost exclusively these days, and it is always a source of concern to me that I am chambered and cocked, relying only on the safety. Sure, muzzles are always in a safe direction etc, but I would be less than happy with fellow bolt-gunners who insisted on accompanying me with their rifles chambered and bolt closed, whether on safe or not! For the modern double rifle enthusiast, a Kreighoff would appear to provide the perfect solution. |
