Mauser, Much depends on one's type of hunting. I have climbed to the top of 9,000-10,000 foot mountains hunting mule deer on days when they just were not moving at all, only to find a blue grouse honey hole or several covies of chucker on the way up and down. My drilling often saved the day and gave me a great bird shoot when there was no opportunity for deer. I've been hunting with a drilling now for 46 years and wouldn't be without one...or six...or a dozen... I also like my cape guns and BBFs for the same reason. I can reload the rifle fast enough for deer or plains game hunting, and one or two shots at birds beats none at all. ![]() |
