Barrel length may be shrugged off as merely a personal preference, but the shooter's build may force overall gun-length to be considered a safety issue. Two of my mates prefer long barrels on their doubles, they are both tall with long arms, and can place the palm of the forward hand over the muzzles of my 24"-barrel Jeffery while mounted at the shoulder!!
