Why do you say the Blaser has "funkiness and the bad handling characteristics"
I've handled two Blasers, both in 470 (if memory serves correct), and both lacked a "good feel and balance" to me. In particular as compared to other double guns in their league: Merkel, Chapuis, Heym that I've handled or shot. It handled a lot like my Kodiak 58 muzzleloader.
"Funkiness" is for well, its just that I find Blaser products a bit odd, or funky... Can't really put my finger on it but when I first saw and handled much of their line at the Eastern Outdoors Show a few years ago it just struck me that the tastes/style of whoever designs Blaser guns is very far removed from my tastes... I don't mean to knock on people who like them, its just not me. This concerns both their double rifle and their straight-pull bolt action. It really hit me when I was with my girlfriend (who is a casual shotgun shooter, who shoots Berettas) at the Blasner Importer booth, and she took one look at the bolt action with its strange design and bad "animal side plates" and said "Isn't that ugly? Is that expensive? I hope not..."
