Re: Double Rifles by Buffalo Bore Part 1

Quote:

When this guy started up the video, and especially when saying "we don't just copy what others have done, we made our ammo better." I wondered if this guy knows much about regulation? Of course it appears he does. But I'm guessing a lot of his DRs have been reregulated to work with his own ammo

His ammo is worthless if it doesn't regulate in a good DR regulated for normal Kynoch loads - velocities, bullet profiles etc. One would have to try out Buffalo Bore ammo to see. With Kynoch ceasing, good loaded ammo will be harder to source.

Even with the often bravado and gusto, the videos are worth watching. A very nice collection of DRs.

Hecsays he doesn't make ammoforbless than the .470. Because he only makes ammo for serious calibres. Funny. I don't see any difference between a .470 and an original .450 NE

Now I'm not having a go at this guy but when you say a H&H Royal won't regulate....really!
Now he's been there done that, I certainly haven't on DG, yet John makes a good point; if your ammo can't regulate in conventional DG rifles, especially doubles then regardless of how good it is then yours & everyone else will have accuracy issues using it, simply because it was not regulated with it!
That is why Geoff MacDonald did all his expanding (softs) range on the same shape & principles of the old British designs - they actually perform & work even better than originals, as been proven all over the world, hence they perform accuracy wise in older doubles at the same velocities that they were designed to shoot.
My 450/400 gets just over 2000fps with the 400gn's, but it only like R15 for the Woodies, every other powder it didn't like - in my rifle! The same will apply to everyone else who reloads, it generally will only work in their rifle.
Graeme Wright's loads are numerous because of the many different rifles used in testing, each most likely preferring a different powder.
My rifle was regulated with Hornady ammo, it was a good as expected using it, except a bit slower than advertised; anyone else using the same ammo & whose rifle was so regulated would get the same results, so it would be a real labour of love to get your special ammo to regulate in different rifles, without changing the initial regulation so you buy the ammo off the shelf & go hunting!

As far as Buffalo bore solids I would expect them to behave like the Woodleigh conventional solids, very good indeed, most probably even better being monos.
The Woodleigh hyrdos are a different animal altogether, they form a bubble in front of that cup up front & don't just bore thru, it performs like a soft/solid hybrid!
