Quote: A greased/oiled chamber undoubtedly increases the back thrust to the breech face which translates to heavier loads on the locking surfaces & bending forces to the frame at the junction of the standing breech and action bar. One can see evidence of this on well used rifles where there is a noticeable gap at the front faces off the dolls head that do not fit snugly any longer. This seems to me a formula for shooting loose much sooner? - Mike |
