Hatari Can you update your profile with your country so people know where you are from ? I understand now. FYI, A lot of Rigby's guns, (after the end of the Rigby Bissell Rising Third Bite era that the Sidelocks were made) were made on the Webley Actions that I mentioned above - that includes BOTH the Sidelocks and Boxlocks). I also have a Westley-Richards Boxlock 500/465 that is like a Webley Action. IMHO, in general any of the English Boxlocks are good, strong actions. I like and am very biased toards Webely Actions. If you find something you like, post a couple of pictures on this forum and someone should be able to tell you what it is and who made it - or at least a good "Guesstimate". Most guns can be traced back via the action, proof marks or initials on the barrels. "I want hunting with a double rifles in Africa without problems of mechanism" Any good English Gun should be OK if it has been lookd after. IF you buy a gun, get it checked out properley by a good gunsmith and everything made perfect before you use it. This will help alleviate any problems when you are miles away in Africa although it will never solved the unexpected - ie Broken Stock, broken firing pin etc that you can't foresee. Re "The bore I hope a .500" N.E. Good choice - 500 NE is a great calibre - the larger bullet / higher energy shows when you hit an animal over a 465, 470 etc. I have a few English 500 NE Doubles are they are great to use and look at although I am just in the process of having my annual Spring clean out so and going to split my composed pair of 500 Nitro's which is a pity but I don't need 2 the same !!! Anyway, hope this helps. Ask any more questions if you want and I will try to answer them. 500 Nitro |
