For the most part, I like DT's better. But, there is an application where a SST is far superior. I much prefer them on a BBF. When hunting primarily birds, I want the first pull to be little pellets out a tube. When hunting primarily big game, I want the single slug hurling down range. I once dead centered a Francolin with a 285 gr Norma Oryx by pulling the wrong trigger on my DT Tikka BBF...12 over 9,3. It would have caused my welcome back at the main house...300 yards exactly down range...to have deteriorated about as fast as that francolin vanished in mid-air, had the bullet missed the hapless bird. I like to set the trigger on my SST Valmet receiver to whatever barrel I would most likely use, given what I am presently hunting. |
