I agree with most of what's said. The 9.3X74 would be my choice for a double rifle for hunting here. In power, it's about equal to 9.3X62 factory, maybe a few fps higher.
; A Chez hunter took an 8 footer(griz) last fall with a single shot using SAKO factory ammo from his .9.3X62 Manlicher. They were loaded with a Norma 286gr.
: The bullet went the full length of the bear which was shot facing on, in the cenre of the chest - at less than 30 yds. It collapsed at the shot.
: While not a really big bear, it would stand a good 9' on his hind legs.
: I don't know anything about the Baikals, but the BRNO (CZ) is an excellent rifle for an over/under. Their barrels are adjustable for whatever load you're using.
