Unfortunate for me, I missed out on buying one or more of those lovely English rifles. In the late 1960s & early 1970s, most of my money went to rent, food, & diapers, with really not much spare money.
I attended the Las Vegas Gun Show in 1971 and saw so many wondeful English double and falling block rifles that were really inexpensive because ammo was't available and some were only black powder cartridge rifles. Of course, my wallet was vertually empty. Also my new wife was in the car, and it would be really difficult to walk out with a neat gun and explain that we would be on a bean diet to cover that cost. That is life.
