Often traditionally thought to be big bores, potentially stopper rifles at close ranges. Follow up rifles for dangerous game, possibly wounded. Used in close thick cover. Jungle. Thick high grass. End of barrel visibility.

But are they also used for reasonable longer ranges? 100 metres, 200 metres?
