Shooting with VALMET 412 o/u

At last weekend I shot first time with my friends VALMET. Some years ago this guy pondered what to do with his late fathers old VALMET. It has ordinary 12/70 shotgun barrels and the owner didnīt like to use it as a shotgun. I just threw an idea about 9,3x74R double barrels and the owner catched it. He ordered barrels from local gunsmith who made them from billet i.e. trilled and rifled both barrels and then regulated them to NORMA 18,5g Oryx. My friend has used this double rifle for moose hunting but so far without any luck. Last summer he even bought barrel pair 12/76 and 7,62x53R for shooting bullets and slugs when hunting wild boars.

When I shot with VALMET we tested how Winchester 18,5g Power Point hits and I should say it works quite well. The distance was 80 meters (87,5 yards) and with two free hand shot I got quite good "moose accuracy". I have to say it was quite a nice experience.
