I have found Flip up moon sights to be useful on
guns for when the sky clouds over and gets really dark
and in the thicker scrub where it can also have little light.

With filing the sight, I used to use 45 degrees but cut
this back to 30 degrees - more brass is showing towards you.

Finally, you need to polish the brass or platinum every so often
as it tarnishes.
