Regarding the magazine, I'd love to do a yearbook. DGJ did quarterly issues, maybe actually deliver one or two if a subscriber was lucky ... Modern advertisers prefer regular magazines, monthly. Quarterly might work. An annual or yearbook not much at all. Doesn't work for the release of the latest re- invent the wheel wannabe cartridge and plastic rifle. True vintage classic firearms are a diminishing market ... But are they? I realised through NitroExpress.com years ago, it is not mass market. Aiming to become a huge forum, a huge Facebook page or group is just denigrating our topic. How many which is better the .204 Ruger or the .223 ? Do we need? Or why the 6.5 Creedmoor is doubleplusgood compared to a cartridge created maybe 129 years ago which is actually better. Better we keep to our core vintage and classics. Double Rifles of course. We were the FIRST website to specialise in Double Rifles, not Double Gun shotguns. . Lots of pretenders since then. Personally I'd like to see the Double Gun Journal magazine continue. But let's face it printed magazines are dying. Printed newspapers are dead. I've stopped using printed fake news newspapers completely. I've started buying specialist weekly weekly political magazines such as the Spectator and . Digital magazines arecoften such total crap. The good old informative articles are often advertiser drivel. Articles written by the good seemingly by an automatic app. Push out quantities of text rather than quality. The internet was supposed to be the rebirth of good literature. Instead it's become the crack cocaine 5 second or 5 minute fix. "Hey that long informative structured grammatically correct article is too much effort to read!" I DO ENJOY reading these old intelligent well written articles on the NE ezine archives. So much better than 95% of the hack articles today. Btw articles in the Westley Richards Explora are good. More for the gun oorn pictures than the writing. Enough whinging. Gentlemen, keep the contributions inflowing. Write some articles to contribute. Showcascyour fine guns. Especially share hunting stories and photos! Particularly if with classic firearms. Though plastic stocked ones will do too. I |
