Quite possibly I am thinking of the Webley action'd rifles. All I know is that every rifle I've been really impressed with was simply labeled as "Army & Navy".
The M70s I prefer (and not what what price and public opinion tends to favor) are the Mid 50'S era through to the end of the run. I know most afficiandos go nuts for pre-War and transition period rifles, but I prefer the later ones. In my view, Winchester got the stock fitment better by then, and the splitting issues were a thing of the past at that point.
