I use to bed a lot of Sakos and always had some masking tape around and just under the edge of the tang.

I do the same with that little square section under the tang of the M70.

Although a lot of people on these forums hate them the Rem 700 has the biggest recoil lug in the business and more stock material behind the recoil lug.

If I could have an action of my own design it would be a well made M70 Push Feed but made big enough for the 378/Rigby case and with in line feed.
