I have stocked about 100 Mausers and have never has one split, but then I am careful about such things. Splits are more commonly seen on shotguns. Maybe this is because they are shot many more times than rifles, on the average. Most factory rifles are drop-ins. Most custom rifles are bedded more accurately. Military rifles seldom split from firing. The grips are straighter and they are much thicker on the average, too. |
