Good evening, I should have given more info regarding my rifle etc. It is an H&H 500-450 nitro weighing 10# 4oz. It is proofed for the tropical 70 gr. cordite load, and a 480 gr. bullet. I shot new Kynoch loads and found the right barrel to hit exactly at point of aim at 50 yards from a standing rest, as I said before, the left barrel printed 2in. left and 2 in. high. I shot 2 pair. the first pair were about 3/4 in. higher than the second. I expected this from clean barrels. I have loaded for many double rifles, and am aware of the process, I was just hoping someone might have the Kynoch formula, and save me a few trips to the range. I have Graeme's book, but did not find any loads for the 500-450, but I could have missed them. Thanks for the answers so far, It looks like 4831 is the powder of choice. Dies, cases, and bullets should be here soon. New Kynoch at $16 a shot has me mumbling in my beard! All the best, SXS |
