Your right, my mistake! It was Kline. I used to love to read Elgin's articles in the magazine. Most of Elgin's Wby rifles were the old ones made on FN Mauser actions. Regardless, Elgin could shoot, anything, and he was hell on Pistol silhoutte. He also had the advantage of being wealty enough to hunt all over the world. Speaking of WBY, there is one thing they stamp their name on, I'd love to have, and that is the best grade O/U shotgun they sell as a WBY product, which of course it isn't! Back in about 89 I won a Superbowl pool, that included $8000 worth of guns, and a Browning Pro-steel gun safe. Included, in it, was a WBy 460 Wby Mag rifle, and a Mod 70 chambered for 300WBY MAG,both of which I promptly sold, unfired. The money took some of the bite out of the price of a nice Westley Richards 500/450 NE double rifle. Im happy, and the guys who got the Wby, and the Mod 70 were too! Even if you're poor like me, you can still have taste. You just have to work harder at it, but being lucky, doesn't hurt anything! I would have liked to have kept the Mod 70, but I already had a pre 64 m-70 chambered for 300 H&H mag, but had no inerest in the 460 at all. It makes no difference what you choose to shoot, as long as it makes you happy, so lets go hunting for a couple of Cape Buffalo, talk guns around the campfire! |
