Re: Spanish double rifle in 7X65R

Hello NitroX,

I want to give a "good guy" shout-out to casper50 - he's a great guy! This is a wonderful double rifle. Its got a lot of whistles and bells - Ejectors, Bushed Firing Pins, and a Hinged Front Trigger. I will be loading and testing next week. Results will be posted here.

As many know, I sold a lot of iron to purchase the hunting land that I had been leasing for 47 years. Those sales included 11 double rifles from my collection. I'm kind of starting over with this one. I'm anxious to see how it performs. In the meantime, every good gun deserves a good case. Here's the one I customized for this rifle.

I couldn't wait till next week, so I went to the range today. It was a splendid 14 degrees. casper50 was kind enough to include a set of reloading dies, 60 pcs of new brass, and snap caps. He actually had 3 boxes of factory ammo, but loaded ammo can't be shipped from Alaska because all shipping services from there are via AIR, which doesn't allow loaded ammo. However, he pulled the bullets, dumped the powder, and de-primed the brass for me. With bullets and brass in hand, I started load development. The rifle has a great peep-site that worked great with my 70 year old eyes. I always start conservative - the results below look very promising.

I've also shown below some high-resolution pictures from the original Holt's auction listing in 2019.
