Their product is good looking but different from the classic Damascus. In classic Damascus, one starts with strips of alternating iron and steel about 1/4" wide and long. These are welded together making a solid piece maybe 1/4" thick by maybe 1/4" wide and long. Next a number of these pieces (number varies but lets say 3 rods) are then twisted. These pieces are alternately with right and left handed twist. They are then hammer welded together so that they new piece is about 1/4" thick by a half inch or so wide. The resulting piece is then heated and wrapped around the mandrell and welded together. There are lots of variables in width, number of strips, etc. |
