I just returned home from a local gun show, where I happened upon a really nice Double Rifle unlike any I had ever seen before. It was small and lightweight with short barrels (18" I think) and had a detachable scope along with a fixed and one folding leaf. It was chambered in 30-40 Krag. The seller reported that it was a pre war German build and called it a "Stalking Double".

I couldnt find any markings but I didnt have a chance to take a really good look at it. Ive arranged to meet with him next week for further inspection. I have to admit Im pretty interested.

30-40 Krag isnt high on my list of must have cartridges; but Im thinking its a good Whitetail even Wild Boar round, which is 90% of my hunting now.
