Re: Double Rifle Prices

Gentlemen:

From Nitro 476 posted 6/30/2005:

"The English are great at selling things at inflated prices especially since the pound is almost 2 to 1 against the dollar. The bulk of Westley guns are obtained from India and refurbished in England. Walter Clode makes a lot of trips to India to purchase guns for his company."

I'd like to correct the above comment regarding the source of our rifles. Since I acquired a half-interest in Westley Richards USA in early 2004, we have had one rifle that had Indian origins.

Our Chairman, Walter Clode, does spend time in India as both his and his ancestral roots are with the British Army in India. Mr. Clode does acquire rifles there occasionally, but the vast majority of the rifles we sell originate in the US.

Yes, we do sell a lot of pre-owned rifles--both magazine and double and frankly, we can sell just about everyone we can get our hands on. Furthermore, the website does not reflect the "special requests" from customers which are not placed on the web so activity is even greater than the website turnover might indicate.

Our order book for new guns and rifles is quite full. We are about to build a new gunmaking facility in Birmingham which, when completed, will be one of the world's most modern and sophisticated gunmaking works.

And as to the English "selling things at inflated prices", I can only point out that prices are set by the free market and certainly not by me and in any event, I'm Irish.
