I suspect the wood is redone, because it appears to be slightly darker along the margins against the metal, suggesting the remnants of older finish in those areas where sanding must be avoided at all cost.

Of course, we are looking at four small photographs and haven't handled the rifle itself. It would be impossible to make a certain evaluation on such little information.

It's a nice piece of wood with attractive grain that is well laid out, I'll say that.

The metal looks to be in good shape.

I could harbor that rifle in my collection, but at about half the asking price.
