CptCurl If you look closely the Wood has a couple of nicks/dents and a few marks on the chequering - almost consumate wth the condition of the rifle. Personally, it doesn't worry me if the Wood has been refinished or the gun restocked - as long as it has been done well and correctly. Remember - in the UK guns are refurvished / cleaned etc often by the makers for the owners and you can't tell when they are done. You can't apply the US ""Original" Winchester / Colt collectors criteria to English guns - after all, if you owned a double rifle and broke the stock while hunting, you'd get it restocked. The Wood looks correct for the era of the gun - it looks like a 20's gun based on the Quarter Rib. Just my HO ! 500 Nitro |
