Just a follow up here that the micro red dot setup worked great on my rifle for the recent France driven boar, roe, and stag hunt. I realize I need more practice at shooting running game with a rifle but it was still great fun and my gear performed well.
Also, traveling to France from the US with the rifle was easy. I got my US Customs form like you always do. Then, upon arrival in Paris, I picked up my oversized case at CDG airport and went through Customs. I actually stopped at French Customs and told them I had a rifle and asked if they wanted to see it. He was very nice and asked to see it but I think it was mostly just out of curiosity to see the rifle. Then, flying home was straightforward as well. Just be extra clear when checking your luggage that there is a firearm in that particular checked bag so that it is flagged appropriately. I use a Tuff Pak case some it looks more like golf clubs than a rifle and works great.
