The top of the action is stamped "HENRY'S PATENT 1898". While a small part of the 9 is missing. it is not a 5. If I can figure out how to post a picture, I will post one of this stamping.
I guess it is possible that the rifle was incorrectly stamped with the patent #.
My rifle is also a 450 3 1/4" BPE rifle,
The wood in the buttstock is very nice, well figured wood. The inletting is excellent.
