Cal's .600 NE was brutal even with being heavier, the .577 NE only slightly less so.
His DB 4 bore slightly less so due to the weight but I needed the support of sticks to hold it up
My own DB H&H 8 bore is relatively mild in comparison
Still well worth the trip to Alaska for such shooting, as there is probably nowhere in the world where I could shoot these supreme rifles

I also got a chance to shoot Cal’s 600 at the 2018 AK shoot. That thing had recoil that kept on coming. Also shot his 8 bore and another member’s 577. Personally, the 600 and 8 bore were near identical in the recoil department. The 577 was (for me) quite a significant step down in recoil. I personally felt the 577 to be easier (less snappy) to shoot when compared to a few 500’s.

I had the chance to shoot a lot of 500's and a few 577's when Westley Richard's had an office here in town..they let me test the consignment models as they come through the door to make sure they worked properly..and put them on paper to see how they grouped..never found the .577 to be unbearable..but have no interest in firing anything bigger..like my retina's just where they are..
